| << To front page | Not What You Say...How many people get the chance to spend time with four local, highly successful media organisations learning how they market and promote products, gather and present news. Well, 15 students from schools across the region did just that in July when they were set the challenge of ‘launching’ the @ Bristol Imaginarium. Staff from Orange, GWR, the BBC and the Evening Post all gave time to explain to the students how their organisations fit into the business of getting messages across to the public. They found out about advertising, public relations, news gathering, editing, reporting and behind-the-scenes broadcasting careers. They even met a famous face or two! The students also spent time ‘fact-finding’ at the Imaginarium itself learning what it offers as a visitor attraction and what sort of people visit. “I didn’t realise so many people were involved!” said one student. “I really want to work in the media one day.” |
